Glamor Puss Girls

Okay, so 2 posts in one day, we're going crazy at our house! It was Clinique bonus time at Nordstroms a few weeks ago, so of course, Jen & I had to venture down to the Dallas Galleria to make a few purchases. We had a lovely time as always, and the lady who was helping us offered Haylee & Kaiya some lip gloss, there was some hesitancy at first on the part of the models, but after the first slick went on, they were sold!

What a pair of cuties! I think I should send this picture into Clinique for a new add campain. What do you think?

Gloves!

So Kaiya has a new favorite accessory...


Potholders! Apparently it wasn't enough that I find my shoes all over the house, now I have to go hunting for my potholders too! Actually, it is just these two that she likes, the one with the lovely map of NYC and the Ove Glove (which are fabulous by the way, this is our second one, we love it).

The other morning she put on her dress up shoes, the "gloves" (aka potholders), some necklaces and told me "I'm ready to go to the castle now!" She may not know who the Disney Princesses are yet, but she certainly likes their accessories!

This blog is seriously funny. I think I just spent an hour laughing at all of these. I will admit that Jamie had to explain one to me (I won't say which, okay fine, it was the one pictured below) but when I got it, seriously, I laughed so hard I cried.

My Silly Family

I am the main photographer in our house. And as such I generally know what to expect when I download pictures from the camera. However every once in a while I get a surprise photo that I had no idea was on there.



This one made me laugh, and I thought I would share it. The other surprise photo I just downloaded involves a totally naked 2 year old vacuuming the play area. I left that one off for obvious reasons.

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Okay, so I'm finally posting Kaiya's birthday. Sorry for the delay; Jen threatened to blog about K's birthday before I did and she has restrained herself exceptionally well, so almost a month later, here we go.

One of Kaiya's favorite things to do is read, and some of her favorite books are the "Fancy Nancy" books, so we decided to have a Fancy Nancy themed party this year. We put up balloons & streamers and hung big butterfly & daisy cutouts from the ceiling. We started out by reading the original Fancy Nancy book, and then gave all the girls tutus and the boys blue and silver shields. We ate some lunch, including sandwiches with frilly toothpicks, because Fancy Nancy says it makes them taste better. Then the kids went outside and played with a bubble machine we got for the occasion & basically ran off some of their energy.

Then the kids all came back in and we decorated crowns with jewels & stickers.

After crowns we had birthday parfaits (a Fancy Nancy favorite). Of course Kaiya had 2 candles in hers.


When it was time to open presents, Kaiya got a lot of fancy things, that she really likes!

I think my favorite present for Kaiya was this lovely real rhinestone tiara (I know, I'm sure you're all shocked).

However sometimes being the center of attention can be difficult


But in the end, after the party (and the nap) are all over, the most fun part is playing with your new toys, with your favorite people.

Why I Love my Nerdy Husband a.k.a. Opposites Attract

Okay, can Jamie & I be more different??? Tonight while Jamie was toiling away on a work project, he took a little break to read some comics online:

Now, some might say "Inquiring Minds Want to Know" (of course all those people who would say that would have to be over 30 or so). So what does my crazy nerd husband do???



Yes Ladies & Gentlemen, he figures out what it says (that is a scanned copy of his answer key) and just in case you can't read what it says, it says is "Paige Fox is bad at math"

The high point of my day, on the other hand, was being given this super awesome box of candy:
Is that the coolest thing you have ever seen? They are Twilight Conversation Hearts, they say things like "dazzle", "bite me" and "lamb" and the flavors are Orange Obsession, Tempting Apple and Passion Fruit. I love it, and it completely made my day.

So what conclusions can we draw about this? The highlight of Jamie's day was conquering 26 math equations to figure out a punch line of a comic strip, and the highlight of my day was receiving candy relating to an adolescent fiction novel. What can you say, opposites attract...

Also, my husband is cool...and I think big brains are hot...no, seriously...

The Joy of "Easter Bunny Eggs"

So it all started a few weeks before Easter when we went to the city's annual Easter Egg Hunt. It started out innocent enough, we reviewed the concept of an Easter egg hunt with Kaiya, and she kind of understood, but not really. When we got there that chilly Saturday morning, and she saw all the other little kids standing around with their Easter basket, she became mildly interested.

When they dropped the ropes and the kids went running out to go pick up eggs, she found that pretty interesting, and then she realized there were bags of Goldfish Crackers out on the field! That was GREAT! She ran around the other kids, picking up eggs, and gathered bags of fish. She even stopped to pose for a picture, kinda...

After the maylay was finished, we sat down with Kaiya to comb through her loot. When she opened one of the few plastic eggs she picked up and candy fell out!!!

Well! The Easter Bunny officially became a person of interest!

It was like you could see the wheels turning, "You mean the Easter Bunny will bring candy???!?!" After that several times a day, Kaiya would ask if there were Easter Bunny Eggs for her yet. I told her not yet, but that the Easter Bunny would visit Grandma & Buddy's house in a few weeks. After a few times telling her this, she started telling me several times a day that "Easter Bunny eggs at Grandma & Buddy's later" (which actually sounds like yayter, not later).

When the big day finally came, we arrived at Grandma & Buddy's and she was so excited to see them, that she didn't remember that it was Easter Bunny Egg day. So she went through her Easter basket from Grandma & Buddy.

Then we took some pictures.



Then while Jamie & I & Kaiya all changed out of our church clothes, the Easter Bunny hid eggs all over the living room (it was kind of a rainy, yucky day).

Overall, it was a great day. Happy Easter everybody!
